The chip gives a vast improvement in power but when traveling at higher speeds and loaded the fuel consumption suffers. Previous figures in the SW of WA without the chip and with no tyre on the roofrack but towing the trailer etc, are averaging 14 to 15L/100km. Laverton to Perth, Highway at 110 kmh, 17.7L/100km. Kunurra -Bungle Bungles- Katherine – Darwin – Kakadu – Pine Creek – Tennant Creek – Alice Springs”: 16 to 19L/100km towing at 110 to 120km/h.Īyres Rock – Great central road to Docker river (sandy road) – Giles – Gun barrel Hwy (4x4 slow going in Mud and soft sand) 18 to 21L/100km. Gibb-River road and up to Mitchell Plateau, mostly at 60 to 80 km/h 13.2L/100km. Perth to Broome 15.6L/100km at 100 to 110kph.īroome - Derby with a nasty head wind 19.6L/100km. I have a 2005 GU4 (Not CRD), with Rapid chip, 3” Taipan exhaust, 285/75x16 Mickey T new ATZ tyres and loaded to the max with spotlights and spare tyre on the roof-rack + towing camper trailer. OH dear, my touring fuel consumption figures with the Rapid chip are not very good.
